Learn about secondary use of health data in Cyprus

Explore training opportunities, webinars, workshops, learning materials, and event updates related to the secondary use of health data in Cyprus. These activities support citizens, data holders, data users, researchers, public authorities and HDAB stakeholders in understanding and preparing for the future national framework.

Event Proposals

1. Action Umbrella: High-Quality Health Datasets – Key to the Success of Secondary Use of Health Data

  • Assessment of the current landscape regarding datasets available within the Republic of Cyprus and proposals for improvement.

1.1 Interactive Workshop on Dataset Description and Creation of a Quality Label

  • Health data holders will be invited to participate in one or more workshops, bringing with them at least a small dataset of their own. During the workshop, they will be guided step by step through the process of creating a dataset description and a quality label. Participants will have the opportunity to create a description and quality label, understand the process and requirements, become more familiar and prepared to meet their obligations under the EHDS Regulation, provide feedback on the process, and suggest ways to improve its effectiveness and efficiency. Additionally: Data holders maturity assessment (QUANTUM).

  • October 2026

1.2 Distribution of Questionnaires to Health Data Holders Regarding the Datasets They Maintain

  • The questionnaires should cover parameters that characterize the usability of datasets, such as: the use cases they support, data categories included, whether data are coded and which coding systems are used, how missing or incorrectly recorded values are managed, how dataset enrichment or linkage is performed, whether dataset merging is applied and by what methods, whether pseudonymization is implemented and which techniques are used, etc

1.3 Workshop/Seminar on the Analysis of Questionnaire Responses

  • Organization of an event during which the status of existing available datasets will be presented, together with proposals for specific actions to improve them so that they become more usable within the national and cross-border infrastructure for the secondary use of health data.

  • December 2026

2. Seminar with Physicians and Researchers/Professors from Medical Schools as Potential Data Users

  • Organization of an event where the national secondary health data use infrastructure will be presented to physicians and researchers/professors from medical schools, explaining data usage opportunities and research prospects at both national and European levels.

  • November 2026

3. Action Umbrella: Informing Political Stakeholders About the National Infrastructure for Secondary Use of Health Data

3.1 Meeting with the Chief Scientist of the Republic of Cyprus, Demetris Skourides

  • Presentation of the expected impact of the national secondary health data use infrastructure on health and wellbeing research. The discussion may include an analysis of the benefits the infrastructure will bring to researchers/scientists as well as to the Republic of Cyprus itself.

3.2 Meeting with Members of Parliament from Relevant Committees

  • Informational meeting with MPs serving on committees related to health, research, innovation, digital policy, or data governance.
