EU Health Data Space Regulation (EHDS) - Overview for Health Data Access Bodies (HDABs)

Updated: May 14

The European health data space regulation establishes health data access bodies (HDABs) in each EU member state. HDABs enable data discovery, assess applications, charge fees, ensure safe access, issue penalties, and ensure transparency. They facilitate secondary use of health data for research, innovation, policymaking, and regulatory purposes. HDABs act as trust keepers, safeguard privacy, promote knowledge sharing, and streamline access. They are essential for innovative medicines, diagnostics, treatments, and stronger health systems.
