EU Health Data Space Regulation (EHDS) - Overview for General Public

Updated: May 14

The European Health Data Space (EHDS) aims to create a cross-border infrastructure to help researchers, policymakers, regulators, innovators, and health professionals access health data across EU member states. This initiative addresses challenges like inconsistent practices, varying laws, and difficulties in discovering and using data from multiple countries. The EHDS will streamline data access through a single application, ensure consistent rules, safeguard privacy, and make research results publicly available. It will support research, accelerate new treatments, boost innovation, improve health systems, and inform public health policies, all while protecting privacy and ensuring legal compliance.
